First oscar ceremony

The first awards were given in 1929 in a low..key event held in the hollywood Roosevelt Hotel attended by 270 people. The first aware received very little media attention because the recipient had already been announced 3 months earlier. From the next aware, the academy decided to keep the results secret but gave the list to newspaper for the next day edition. In 1940 the los angeles times broke the embargo and published the names of the winners in it's evening edition. Since them the academy has adopted the sealed envelop system. Tv viewers in the US and Canada watched the first tv edition in 1953 while the aware went international from 1969. Hollywoods Kodak theater has since 2002 became the ceremony's permanent venue (prize)
